Bill Paxton joins Tom Cruise in 'All You Need Is Kill'
With HBO's polygamy drama Big Love wrapping up its five-year run recently, Bill Paxton has been keeping himself plenty busy on the big and small screen. He won a ton of acclaim for the Hatfields & McCoys mini-series with Kevin Costner. And this year alone I've seen him in two solid films: one was Steven Soderbergh's Haywire, and the other was the indie rom-com Shanghai Calling. Next up for him is a huge step up in profile and budget, as he'll join Tom Cruise in the sci-fi flick, All You Need is Kill.
Directed by Doug Liman and based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka's light novel, the story follows a newbie soldier in a future alien war who finds himself reliving the day he died in battle over and over again, Source Code-style. With each new attempt he gains experience and becomes the soldier he was always destined to be. Emily Blunt and Charlotte Riley co-star, with Paxton playing Cruise's platoon commander.
Currently filming in London, All You Need is Kill doesn't have a release date yet, but I'm betting we'll see it towards the tail end of 2013. Cruise already has one sci-fi film in Oblivion due out next April. [Variety]
