*UPDATE* Is J.J. Abrams' 'Star Trek' sequel titled 'Star Trek Into Darkness'?

*UPDATE* Deadline is confirming that Star Trek Into Darkness is the official title Paramount has settled on. Let the speculation begin.*

After all of this time it's really quite remarkable how little we actually know about J.J. Abrams' Star Trek sequel. The film has been completed for months, but at this point we don't even know who the villain is. We know he'll be played by Benedict Cumberbatch, and may be series favorite, Khan, although recent rumors have him pegged to be old school heel Gary Mitchell.

The veil may be starting to lift, though, as we at least may be figuring what the film's title will be. Comingsoon.net noticed that a Paramount company has registered the domain names, www.starttrekintodarkness.com and www.startrekintodarknessmovie.com. That's usually a precursor to an official announcement being made(same happened with the third 'Hobbit' movie title), and Trek Movie has confirmed with their sources that Star Trek Into Darkness is indeed what the film will be called.

I don't know enough about Star Trek to know if the title has any storyline implications. When Thor: The Dark World was announced it was immediately apparent the Dark Elves would be involved. So maybe someone with more knowledge of the original Star Trek(I was a TNG and DS9 fan) can fill me in?  Star Trek Into Darkness is expected to land on May 17th 2013.
