Set photos reveal first look at the new 'Robocop'!

So far a lot of what we've heard about Jose Padilha's Robocop has been troubling stuff. The director himself has described the process as "hell", which, correct me if I'm wrong, isn't exactly a good thing. Early reviews of the script have pretty much trashed the sh*t out of it. All of this comes before we even got to what was eventually going to be the most scrutinized aspect: Robocop's design. Well, now we're getting some set photos which show this Robocop will be very different than the model we're used to.

The photos show star Joel Kinnaman in what is a sleeker, more aerodynamic style compared to the bulky version from Paul Verhoeven's film. It almost reminds me in some ways to Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins design, with the exception of the helmet and visor. We were promised a very different Robocop that shows more of the human side, so the second photo, which shows the suit minus the visor, is probably what we'll be seeing a lot of. You don't sign somebody like Joel Kinnaman then hide the dude's face. Just sayin'.

I'm sure the response to these shots will be mixed, but let's not forget that there will no doubt be a lot of CGI work done on it in post-production. Robocop hits theaters next year on August 9th. [Comingsoon]
