* Danny Trejo, our buddy and one of the toughest men in Hollywood, has joined Gina Carano(Haywire) in the action-thriller, In the Blood. Fellow tough guy Stephen Lang(Avatar) has also come aboard the film, which follows a wife who hunts down the men who she believes kidnapped her husband. Lang will play Carano's spouse, while Trejo is a thug named Big Biz who Carano will slug it out with. Sweet! John Stockwell(Into the Blue) will direct with production set to begin in November. Trejo is currently putting the finishing touches on Machete Kills with Robert Rodriguez. [THR]
* The super-sexy Isabel Lucas(Immortals) is set to headline the erotic thriller, Careful What You Wish For. Elizabeth Allen, who has previously helmed kiddie fare like Ramona & Beezus and Aquamarine, will direct the film about a high school student who enters into a torrid affair with the lonely wife of a wealthy businessman, only to become a suspect in a criminal investigation. Lucas will be seen next in the long-delayed Red Dawn remake. Production will begin on Careful What You Wish For early in 2013.
* Already high on my radar due to its delightfully strange horror premise, Grand Piano is now adding one of my favorite young actresses to the cast. Kerry Bishe(Red State) will join stars John Cusack and Elijah Wood in the psycho-thriller about a retired concert pianist with extreme stage fright who is forced back at the keys when a threat is made against his family. Oh it sounds so terrible and great at the same time! Alex Winter(Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure), Don McManus, Tamsin Egerton, and Allen Leach co-star. Rodrigo Cortes(Buried) is producing with Eugenio Mira(Agnosia) directing. Bishe will be appearing in Ben Affleck's hostage crisis drama, Argo, which opens on October 12th. [Variety]
