Sure Shots: Udo Kier; Paul Thomas Anderson; Stacy Keach

* It wouldn't be a Lars Von Trier film without his buddy Udo Kier having a part in it, but since this is The Nymphomaniac and will feature real on-screen sex, let's hope Kier's role is small and fully clothed. The creepy German actor has confirmed his participation in the film, which stars Charlotte Gainsbourg as a woman reliving her sexual history up to the age of 50. Sounds like that old Seinfeld fake movie, Rochelle Rochelle.  Anyway, the cast is pretty impressive with Shia LaBeouf, Stellan Skarsgard, Jamie Bell, Connie Nielsen, Nicole Kidman, and possibly Willem Dafoe. Filming is underway and we'll likely see this one at festivals next year. [Dread Central]

* It usually takes about five years between movies for Paul Thomas Anderson, so with The Master right around the corner we can start counting down the days until his next project. The difference this time is that PTA has been working on his adaptation of Inherent Vice, the psychodelic noir novel by Thomas Pynchon, for a couple of years already. The auteur revealed that he's currently back at work on the script and hopes to "get it going soon". Robert Downey Jr. has been circling the lead role of 1960s LA gumshoe, Doc Sportello, who is clued in by his ex-girlfriend about a plot to kidnap a wealthy land developer. PTA also hopes to adapt Gravity's Rainbow, which many consider to be Pynchon's finest work. [Screen Daily/Empire]

* Bob Odenkirk(Breaking Bad) and the legendary Stacy Keach have joined the cast of Nebraska, Alexander Payne's follow-up to The Descendants. Already starring the unlikely duo of Will Forte and Bruce Dern, the road trip dramedy follows an alcoholic father who travels from Montana to Nebraska with his estranged son to claim a $1M Publisher's Clearing House prize, which may or may not be legit. Odenkirk will play Forte's brother, while Keach is a friend of Dern's. [The Film Stage]
