Blood and fire rage in the first 'Carrie' trailer!

The first footage from Kimberly Peirce's remake of Carrie wowed the horror fans in attendance at the New York Comic-Con, with many praising the ominous tone and the not-so-subtle upping of the stakes from Brian De Palma's classic film. Now that footage has been revealed courtesy of a new teaser trailer, and it's pretty impressive.

The story is well-worn territory, and it looks like Peirce set out to make her film stand apart from De Palma's and even Stephen King's novel. Featuring a creepy voice singing softly as we swoop over a small suburban town in flames, we hear various voices from the film talking about the source of the destruction, only to have the camera zoom in on the cause, which is a bloody Chloe Moretz in an image that parallels the iconic prom scene. Powerful stuff.

Opening on March 15th 2013, Carrie co-stars Julianne Moore, Portia Doubleday, Judy Greer, Gabriela Wilde, and Alex Russell. Check out the trailer below....[Yahoo!]
