Kindred Spirits: Jamie Foxx and Ken Jeong to star in each other's developing films
I don't know how exactly Jamie Foxx and Ken Jeong became such close buds, but that's what has happened and now we're seeing the results of their unexpected union. Both are currently in the process of branching out beyond acting into writing their own future projects, and have decided to help one another out by appearing in the other's film.
Foxx has agreed to star in After Prom, a comedy which Jeong is scripting, producing, and will take the other lead role in. The film centers on two old high school friends, who Foxx describe as "a jock and a cool dude", who now must help their children navigate their own high school proms.
Jeong will then appear in All-Star Weekend, which Foxx is writing and planning to direct. The buddy comedy will star Kevin Hart(Think Like A Man), and centers on two best friends who cheer for opposing basketball teams. One is a supporter of Kobe Bryant, and the other a fan of Lebron James. Foxx will only make a cameo in this one.
Neither of these films sound all that interesting on their own, and I find that too much Jeong can be a terrible thing. But Foxx is a funny and likable guy who should be able to play off Jeong pretty well. [LA Times]
