New trailer for South Korean heist flick 'The Thieves'
While Park Chan-Wook, Kim Ji-Woon, and Bong Joon-Ho are probably the South Korean filmmakers with the most international cache, arguably the most successful is one most people have never heard of. Choi Dong-hun emerged on the scene in a big way with 2004's The Big Swindle, and has seen all four of his directorial efforts reach blockbuster status. His latest heist film, The Thieves, is the top grossing film in Korean history, and as its U.S. debut is right around the corner we're getting a look at the trailer.
Designed by Dong-hun to be a bigger, Korean version of Ocean's Eleven, the film features a ton of exotic locations, huge set pieces, and of course a lot of backstabbing and double-dealing. A group of ten all-star thieves put their individual skills to the test in a dangerous scheme to steal the "Tear of the Sun", a score that may be too hot even for them to handle.
The Thieves opens here on October 12th. Check out the trailer below....
