It takes an especially experienced director to be able to handle a large group of characters and give each their proper due. Not every filmmaker can do it, and if you want to see how an inexperienced director can mess that up, just check out RZA's The Man with the Iron Fists. But Peter Jackson is old hat at this sort of thing, juggling dozens of characters effortlessly with his Lord of the Rings trilogy, and now he'll do it again when The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey begins next month.
Today sees the release of a whopping seventeen posters for the film, most of which include the fellowship of dwarves who accompany Bilbo Baggins(Martin Freeman) on his epic journey. The first film will clock in at a shade under three hours, and you can bet the next two chapters will be even longer, so every one of these guys should get their moment to shine.
