1st look at Jesse Eisenberg and Noah Taylor in 'The Double'

Brit funnyman Richard Ayoade hasn't wasted any time making inroads here in America. Already well-established abroad for starring in the hit TV series, The IT Crowd, Ayoade established himself as a filmmaker to watch with his directorial debut, Submarine. This past summer he got to hang out with Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill, and Vince Vaughn in The Watch, and at least to me he was the best part of a rather crappy movie.

But now he's back with his second directorial effort, The Double, and the first couple of images hint at it being unlike anything Ayoade has done before. A modernized take on Fyodor Dostoyevsky's novella, the film stars Jesse Eisenberg as an introverted bureaucrat who sees his personal and professional life ruined by the presence of his more charismatic doppelganger.

In the silly mustache is underrated character actor Noah Taylor, but not seen are fellow co-stars Mia Wasikowska, Yasmine Page, and Wallace Shawn. There's no release date for this one yet, but I fully expect to see it next year, hopefully at Sundance? [CinemaTeaser]
