Dwayne Johnson goes undercover in the first trailer for 'Snitch'

It's easy to forget that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has a lot more going on than just Fast Six and the delayed  G.I. Joe: Retaliation. He's also got Snitch, the upcoming film from Ric Roman Waugh that sees the former/current WWE superstar battling the war on drugs. Didn't somebody tell him the war's over and we lost? Eh, guess not.

The first trailer has been released and right now and it's tough to tell what to make of it. It appears to be trying to make a larger point about the failure of our government's war on drugs, but at the same time it looks like a fairly generic thriller, the type that Johnson has found himself in plenty of times before. The cast may be the determining factor, though, as it stars Susan Sarandon, The Walking Dead's Jon Bernthal, Barry Pepper, Benjamin Bratt, and The Wire's Michael K. Williams playing a very familiar sort of role. Johnson plays a father who, in an effort to reduce his son's sentence for smuggling drugs, agrees to go undercover for the feds to take down a crime kingpin.

I had low expectations for Johnson in Faster, but was pleasantly surprised. Hopefully the same thing happens here. Snitch hits theaters on February 22nd 2013....
