Zack Snyder discusses whether 'Man of Steel' will tie-in to 'Justice League'
With Warner Bros. targeting Justice League for 2015, one of the big questions left surrounding it is whether or not their solo films will tie-in. The studio has played it close to the vest, and to my mind they have every reason to be secretive. Zack Snyder's Man of Steel is coming up, and with the unproven Henry Cavill donning the red & blue suit, surely they don't want to reveal too much and then have the film turn out like Green Lantern.
The New York Post nailed down the chatty Snyder to talk about the film, and he dropped an interesting nugget about Warner Bros. grand superhero scheme....
Snyder: "I don’t know how Justice League is going to be handled. Honestly, I don’t, but The Man of Steel exists, and Superman is in it. I don’t know how you’d move forward without acknowledging that."
Ok, that certainly sounds like he's hinting at some sort of connectivity. So when pressed on it, here's what Snyder had to say...
Snyder: "Um, how can I answer that? I can’t really say anything to that, because that’s a big spoiler. I will say, yeah, they trust me to keep them on course."
Now that definitely sounds like the plans are in the works for Cavill's Superman to be a part of Justice League. Of course, he could just be saying the studio hopes he won't eff everything up by putting out a turd of a film that sets their superhero universe back a few years. They already went through that once with Superman Returns.
The story also reveals that Cavill has signed a three-movie deal, which probably just extends to the Superman flicks but I'm not sure on that. Despite their clearly being a larger plan at work, Snyder insists he's taking things one film at a time...
Snyder: “We approach the film as a single endeavor. There are a lot of gears that have to turn in the world of commerce and the world of the mythology we create to facilitate more adventures for this character. We’ll see what happens.”
