Logan looms over Japan in new poster for 'The Wolverine'
Despite earlier reports stating otherwise, we won't be seeing a trailer for The Wolverine until some time next year, but 20th Century Fox is ready to start drawing attention to the superhero film right now. They've had a lot of help lately, as there's been more talk about their X-men line of movies than ever as plans round into shape to craft their own Avengers-style cinematic universe. That makes The Wolverine a far more interesting film than it was just a month ago.
Yet compared to other comic book films The Wolverine still comes off as an outlier, fitting for the nomadic and isolated nature of its central hero. A newly released poster captures this side of Logan's personality beautifully, as he looms large over Japan clutching a samurai sword, a symbol of the honor code he holds most dear. But it's a code he frequently sees challenged, and that's what he'll face in this story, set after the events of X-men: The Last Stand, which sees Wolverine facing an old foe from his past and confronting the woman he once loved.
Starring Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima and Brian Tee, The Wolverine unsheathes on July 26th 2013.
