Michael Bay adds Nicola Peltz and Brenton Thwaites to 'Transformers 4'
Even before Michael Bay lured his Pain and Gain star Mark Wahlberg for the next Transformers flick, we knew that he wasn't going to be the true star. Bay needed a pair of young actors to play a pair of teenaged lovers, one a female high school senior, the other her race car driving boyfriend. Well, Bay has made his choices, one who has some big movie experience, and the other who probably nobody has heard of.
According to Twitch, Nicola Peltz and Brenton Thwaites will star in Transformers 4, which we know takes place a few years after the last film and will feature an entirely new cast of humans and robots. Thwaites is the guy nobody knows, but if you were one of the few who saw Lifetime's Blue Lagoon: The Awakening, then maybe he's a familiar face. He's actually a star on the rise, landing a plum gig opposite Angelina Jolie in Maleficent.
Peltz is more recognizable, although I'm not sure she's happy about why. She was pretty horrible in M. Night Shymalan's big budget disaster, The Last Airbender, earning her a Razzie nomination for worst performance. She's currently filming the Psycho prequel series, Bates Motel, so maybe she's improved since then? Not that a Transformers film is going to require her to be stretched emotionally or anything.
So that was quick and easy, and Bay has two pretty stars he can build the film around, just as he did with Shia Labeouf and Megan Fox. Transformers 4 opens on June 27th 2014.
