Dreamworks Animation has three major films coming our way in 2013, and the first shot out of the gate is The Croods, a prehistoric comedy featuring the voices of Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine Keener, Cloris Leachman, and Clark Duke.
Written and directed by Chris Sanders and Kirk DeMicco, the story centers on a family of cavemen who are forced to flee into the great unknown when their home is destroyed. They learn to overcome their fears with the help of an evolved nomad named Guy, who also catches the eye of their daughter. Mix in some Flintstones-style humor, a dose of culture clash, and some genuinely gorgeous animation and this film may be more of a hit than Rise of the Guardians turned out to be. I think this is probably the least interesting of Dreamworks' upcoming slate, with Mr. Peabody and Sherman looking mighty promising.
