New trailer for Jet Li's 'The Sorcerer and the White Snake'

Hard to believe it's been fourteen years since Jet Li floored American audiences with his rapid fire martial arts in Lethal Weapon 4, and since that time he's been pretty good at balancing major Hollywood and Chinese productions. Much like his castmates in The Expendables, Li hasn't let growing older slow him down all that much, and now we're getting a look at his next film, the fantasy epic The Sorcerer and the White Snake.

Based on the Chinese legend and directed by Ching Siu-tung(A Chinese Ghost Story), the film follows an herbalist who falls in love with a 1,000-year old snake demon disguised as a beautiful woman. The film came out last year and received generally positive reviews, noting its beautiful special effects and off-the-wall premise. To me the trailer looks a bit spotty, as not all of the CG looks to be of the highest quality. But it certainly has a certain flair for the dramatic, which is to be expected from Siu-tung, who choreographed the stylish House of Flying Daggers.

The Sorcerer and the White Snake hits VOD on January 3rd, then opens in theaters on February 8th....
