Watch 'Bump', the directorial debut from Fox 5's Kevin McCarthy

If you're here around the Nation's Capital, then chances are you know my homie, Kevin McCarthy. He's the geeky looking dude on Fox 5 every Friday interviewing all the hot celebrities all around the world? He's a good dude, and his site Nerd Tears is almost as cool as ours. Almost! Anyway, he's also a guy with a dream of being a filmmaker, and unlike so many that I've known(and still know), Kevin has taken the bull by the horns in making that dream come true. Gotta give it up to him for that.

So the story goes that he met one of his idols, some guy named Steven Spielberg. He directed a movie once or something. Spielberg was clearly taken by Kevin's enthusiasm, like many are wont to do, and told him to make a movie and send it to him. And that's exactly what Kevin's done. Along with a few of his friends, he put together a 13-minute short titled Bump, and it deals with one man's problems with OCD, and how it threatens to ruin every facet of his life. It's a deeply personal film for Kevin, as someone who suffers from OCD himself, and I think he does a good job capturing how it colors his view on things. I think I caught a little bit of Memento thrown in there, too.  Kev takes the lead role, and the one playing his girlfriend is fellow WAFCA-mate Lauren Veneziani. I thought movie critics couldn't act? Aren't we all just failed actors and that's why we're in this profession? It's certainly why I got into this

So check out Bump below, and join me in encouraging Kevin to submit to some friggin' film festivals or something....
