Hey, who wants to watch Halle Berry talk on the telephone while all of the action in her movie happens elsewhere? Anybody? That's what we may be in store for with The Call(formerly The Hive), the latest thriller from The Machinist and Transsiberian director Brad Anderson.
Starring alongside Abigail Breslin, Michael Imperioli, and David Otunga because this is a WWE Studios production, the film has Berry as a 911 operator who must help a young girl kidnapped by someone from a past altercation. This appears to be a slight variation on the single-set thriller, ala Phone Booth, except it takes place in two locations, Berry's desk and inside the kidnapper's vehicle. Sound exciting? This looks pretty terrible, and not at all like the moody work Anderson has done previously. Maybe there's more to it than this trailer shows?
The Call gets answered on March 15th.
