Woody Allen's next film titled 'Blue Jasmine'; picked up by Sony Pictures Classics

Woody Allen's been hit or miss for years, there's usually no middle ground with him. He followed up his highly successful and imaginative Midnight in Paris with last year's tedious To Rome with Love, so the smart money is on his next film swinging back in the other direction. Par for the course, we don't know much about the plot, but we now know it will be titled Blue Jasmine.

A press release confirmed the new title, along with announcing that Sony Pictures Classics will distribute it, the way they have five of Allen's prior efforts. The news was actually broken a few days ago on Twitter, but this is the official confirmation. He's put together another typically great cast with Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin, Louis C.K., Sally Hawkins, Bobby Cannavale, Andrew Dice Clay(!?!), Peter Sarsgaard, and new addition Michael Stuhlbarg(Boardwalk Empire). I guess Michael Emerson is out?

Plot details remain thin, but the release does say it tells "the story of the final stages of an acute crisis and a life of a fashionable New York housewife." Here's hoping it's more Match Point and less You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger. Expect to see Blue Jasmine arrive later this year.
