New posters for 'Monsters University', 'The Place Beyond the Pines', and 'Olympus Has Fallen'
There are seemingly hundreds of unique creatures going in and out of the Monsters University trailers we've seen. Some big, some small, none particular scary, but that's what they're all enrolled for, right? The new poster for the film puts Sulley (John Goodman) and Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) front and center along with the entire student body. The chameleon-esque Randall Boggs (Steve Buscemi) is there for the shot, but missing is Headmistress Dean Hardscrabble, voiced by Helen Mirren. I guess this is a faculty-free portrait. Monsters University opens in 3D on June 21st. [Nerdist]
Three new posters for Derek Cianfrance's ambitious The Place Beyond Pines put highlight stars Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, and Eva Mendes. The more I think about the film, the more impressed I am with its breadth and scope, so hopefully it performs well when it opens on March 29th. The story begins with a stunt cyclist played by Gosling, who takes up bank robbery to provide for the son he never knew he had. It spins off into numerous directions from there, spanning generations as familial legacies and past sins have lasting impact. Ray Liotta, Ben Mendelsohn, Dane DeHaan, and Rose Byrne co-star.
Antoine Fuqua's Olympus Has Fallen was rushed into theaters to beat out Roland Emmerich's White House Down, since they both have the exact same "save the President from terrorists" plotline. A new poster features the floating heads of Morgan Freeman, Gerard Butler, and Aaron Eckhart, with Butler as a disgraced ex-Secret Service agent who stops at nothing to save the Prez when the White House is taken over by a terrorist madman. Angela Bassett, Melissa Leo, Ashley Judd, and Rick Yune co-star when the film opens on March 22nd.
