Shocker!!!! Takashi Miike (13 Assassins) has a new film coming out! The Japanese director has given new meaning to the world "prolific", and with at least five projects completed in the last two years he's not slowing down one bit. His latest, Wara no Tate aka Straw Shield, lacks some of the stylish splash we're accustomed to from Miike, but still looks like a solid cop thriller.
It's a cop thriller only in the sense that the two main characters are officers, but the story has them protecting a murderer (Battle Royale's Tatsuya Fujiwara) after a reward is offered to whoever can kill him. The bounty has practically the whole city gunning for his head, the two cops must deal with the ethical quagmire of protecting a killer.
There's no release date for Straw Shield just yet, but Miike films tend to find their way here in some form or another. Hopefully we'll get a subtitled version of the trailer soon...[Bleeding Cool]
