Noomi Rapace says a 'Prometheus 2' script is underway

When asked, a lot of people will point to Ridley Scott's Prometheus as one of last year's great disappointments. The kinda-prequel to Alien had a lot of big ideas, some of which were realized better than others, but the script was messy and unfocused. Word on a potential sequel has been relatively quiet, with the last info that writer Damon Lindelof wouldn't be coming back. But apparently there is work being done on a script, at least according to star Noomi Rapace.

ThePlaylist caught up with her while she was doing press for Dead Man Down, and she revealed a meeting took place with Ridley Scott...

Rapace: "They're working on the script. I met Ridley in London a couple of weeks ago. I would love to work with him again and I know that he would like to do another one. It's just like we need to find the right story. I hope we will."

One thing I admired about Prometheus is that it did spark a lot of discussion, which is the hallmark of an impactful film.  It sounds like Rapace has heard a lot of the reaction, and hopes a sequel will explore some of the areas people have been speculating on...

Rapace: “And it’s interesting because people, most people I’ve talked to who see the movie, see things that are quite different. Some people who see the movie many times and discover new things. There are all these religious aspects and there are very interesting conversations. And for me, if we do a second one, there are a lot of things to explore in there and to continue. I would love to do it.”

She goes on to talk about the physicality of the production, and how much fun she had while filming. But when asked about the identity of the screenwriter she claimed not to know. She may have been playing hard to get on that question.

Right now, she and Michael Fassbender would be expected to return if a Prometheus sequel does happen. It likely wouldn't be until 2014 or 2015 at the latest.
