New trailer for 'Carrie' starring Chloe Moretz and Julianne Moore
After a brief teaser emerged last fall, Screen Gems decided to pump the brakes on Kimberly Peirce's Carrie remake, knocking the film seven months down to the crowded Halloween season. It's a vote of confidence from the studio that they're willing to put it up against horror juggernaut, Paranormal Activity. Whether the gamble pays off or not we'll have to wait and see, but the first full trailer is here now and it suggests there may be a new (prom) queen in town.
Chloe Moretz stars as the titular bullied school girl, who also faces abuse at home from her strict fundamentalist mother played by Julianne Moore. Discovering she has telekinetic abilities, Carrie develops her powers and sets out on a destructive course of vengeance against those who have tormented her. The film hews closer to Stephen King's novel than the Brian De Palma adaptation, but all of the familiar scenes are there in full force. The scenes between Moretz and Moore are truly disturbing, possibly even creepier than when things start to get fiery and bloody.
Co-starring Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Ansel Elgort, Alex Russell, and Gabriella Wilde, Carrie hits theaters on October 18th.
