The first poster for '300: Rise of an Empire'
It's going to be a busy summer for Zack Snyder, and not just because Man of Steel will fly into multiplexes this June. Zack Snyder took to Twitter and revealed the first poster for 300: Rise of an Empire, the sequel to the hit 2006 film that solidified his dynamic visual style.
Snyder will produce and co-wrote the script with Kurt Johnstad, with Noam Murro (Smart People) behind the camera, mimicking the look of the previous film. Frank Miller's graphic novel, Xerxes, serves as the basis for this story which is runs parallel to the previously depicted Battle of Thermopylae. Rodrigo Santoro returns as Xerxes, who is on a quest for godhood that pits him against the Greek army. Sullivan Stapleton is Greek general Themistokles, while Eva Green is Xerxes' ruthless naval commander, Artemisia. The bulk of the fighting will take place on the high seas, depicting the battles of Artemisium and Salamis.
300: Rise of an Empire opens in IMAX on August 2nd.
