Jennifer Lawrence to Star in Susanne Bier's 'The Rules of Inheritance'

When she's not busy shape-shifting on the set of X-men: Days of Future Past or starring in The Hunger Games, Jennifer Lawrence is busy stretching herself in a number of top notch art house films. She's all wrapped on David O. Russell's star-studded political film American Hustle, which could have her taking home another golden statue next year. But she also found time to join her Silver Linings Playbook co-star Bradley Cooper in Susanne Bier's Depression-era drama, Serena. It must have been a good experience for all involved, because Lawrence and Bier are teaming up yet again.

Bier is set to direct an adaptation of Claire Bidwell Smith's memoir, The Rules of Inheritance, which Lawrence will lead and serve as producer for the first time. Abi Morgan (Shame) will pen the script, which is based on Bidwell's tough upbringing after both of her parents are diagnosed with cancer by the time she's fourteen. It's another challenging role for Lawrence, who is apparently taking tighter control over the films she gets involved with. I guess she doesn't want to fall into another House at the End of the Street.

As for when this will shoot, that much is unclear. Bier recently became attached to adapt Helen Schulman's This Beautiful Life, while Lawrence's schedule could conceivably open up after she finishes up with the X-men.
