New Posters for 'Riddick', 'Monsters University', 'Planes', and More

If anybody was actually wondering, Vin Diesel will indeed be bringing Riddick to Comic-Con next month, and he's taken to Facebook to reveal a new poster designed for the event. Diesel returns as the merciless Furyan, who must survive a desolate planet inhabited by vicious predators. His only hope of escape is by alerting his enemies to his whereabouts. Dave Bautista, Katee Sackhoff, Karl Urban, and Jordi Molla co-star in the film, hitting IMAX theaters on September 6th.

The running theme in many of the posters for Pixar's Monsters University has been the treatment of Mike Wazowski, who seems to be at the butt end of many a college prank. The latest French one-sheet keeps the motif going, with James P. Sullivan about to serve his little buddy like a tennis ball. The film is a prequel which has the two future friends joining a fraternity of losers and competing in the Scare Games.  Monsters University opens on June 21st.

Disney is ready to take flight with Planes, so much so that they've already dated the sequel, Planes: Fire & Rescue. The Cars spinoff follows Dusty Crophopper (Dane Cook), with big dreams of becoming an international air racer, but first he has to overcome an unusual fear of flying. The latest image is a high-flying, triumphant piece, although I feel pretty bad for those who are stuck on the ground. Planes takes off on August 9th.

Talking planes aren't the only ones with dreams of living in the fast lane. In Dreamworks' Turbo, a snail voiced by Ryan Reynolds has hopes of racing in the Indy 500, and gets his chance when he gains super-speed. I'm not really feeling the story or any of the trailers we've seen up to this point, but the posters have been bright, colorful, and really stand out when seen in a theater. If Turbo proves to be a hit on July 19th, they'll be a big reason why.

An extremely creative, and a little disturbing, poster has been released for Berberian Sound Studio. Toby Jones stars as a sound mixer who begins to lose his mind while working on an Italian horror film. The image hints at the psychotic break Jones' character experiences, and overall it matches the film's tone perfectly. Berberian Sound Studio is out right now in theaters, VOD, and ITunes.

Jeff Garlin is following up his directorial debut I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With by pulling together a bunch of familiar faces for Dealin' with Idiots. The ensemble comedy, also written by Garlin, features JB Smoove, Nia Vardalos, Richard Kind, Gina Gershon, Kerri Kenney, Jami Gertz, Timothy Olyphant, Bob Odenkirk, Steve Agee, and Fred Willard. The story follows "Max Morris, a famous comedian, who decides to get to know the colorful parents and coaches of his son's Little League Baseball team in an attempt to find the inspiration for his next movie." Dealin' with Idiots opens on July 12th.

It's meat cleavers and Heather Graham cleavage on the new poster for Compulsion. Graham plays Amy, a renowned gourmet chef who uses her culinary gift to dominate others and control her relationships. Carrie-Anne Moss plays her neighbor, a former child actress who Amy idolized, and becomes her next target. Compulsion opens on June 21st.
