After pitching in a few million bucks to help Kickstart the Veronica Mars film, "Marshmallows" (what fans of the show are called) saw their contribution justified at Comic-Con yesterday when Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell introduced the first trailer. Much of the cast was on hand to show their appreciation to the more than 900,000 Kickstarter backers who helped fund the film, fulfilling a wish that had seemed out of reach since the popular but low-rated show came to an end after three seasons.
Thomas and Bell were joined by Francis Capra, Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs III, Ryan Hansen, Tina Majorino, Chris Lowell, and Jason Dohring. Much of the conversation centered on their appreciation for the fans, but they also had some fun with the ongoing rivalry between fans of Dohring's Logan character and Lowell's Piz character.
Thomas promised the film would be released in early 2014, and he's begun work on a series of Veronica Mars novels, as well.
