New Trailer and Racy Photos from 'The Canyons' Starring Lindsay Lohan

The net effect of Paul Schrader casting the troubled Lindsay Lohan and porn star James Deen in The Canyons, along with a series of genre-themed trailers that seemed designed to mask the film's true nature, is that it's facing a wave of bad press less than a month before release. And to be fair, the production itself did face a few hurdles, mostly due to Lohan's many legal issues, but that doesn't excuse some already labeling the film a disaster before anyone has laid eyes on it.

A flurry of positive buzz could be just what Schrader and button-pushing scribe Bret Easton Ellis have ordered, as FilmComment have released a number of racy images from the film, along with separate pieces by the director and writer. The biggest headline grabber, besides the very NSFW photo spread, was a comment by Schrader that Lohan has "more natural acting talent than Marilyn Monroe did."  I don't necessarily disagree with him.

And then there's a new trailer which finally gives us a taste of what the film is aiming to be, and that's a stylish and sexually charged exploration of the dark side of the Los Angeles movie scene. Deen plays a film producer and trust fund baby with Lohan as his actress girlfriend whose illicit affairs lead to violence.

It's probably not a coincidence that the trailer begins with Lohan talking about the death of the moviegoing experience, considering The Canyons will open on VOD and ITunes the same day it gets an NYC bow on August 2nd.  Check out the trailer plus the images below, but do it from the comfort of your own home.
