Rumored Plot of Christopher Nolan's 'Interstellar' Involves Corn and Climate Change

So far we don't know much about Christopher Nolan's Interstellar other than a simple logline and the incredible cast he's assembled. That's just how the director does it, keeping mum on the details until he's good and ready. The net result is that any kernel (hmmm that will end up a pun in just a moment) of info about the film will be picked over and blasted out whether it's actually a big revelation or not, and that seems to be the case with this latest rumor involving the plot.

What we know at this point is that Interstellar follows a team of astronauts on a heroic voyage through a wormhole where they'll deal with time travel and alternate dimensions. With filming now taking place in Canada, the Alberta-based Ford MacLeod Gazette has a new plot synopsis that makes the film sound like a big budget version of Promised Land....

"Set in the future, the movie details the toll climate change has taken on agriculture, with corn the last crop to be cultivated. The scientists embark on a journey through a worm hole into other dimensions in search of somewhere other crops can be grown."

Yep, cue up the "corny" headlines. Oh wait, a million other sites have already done that.

Some are making this sound like a big deal, but really I don't know what all of the fuss is about. It's not like they'll be shucking ears of corn while on the ship's holodeck or something. And if so, do we doubt that Nolan couldn't find a way to make it interesting?

Interstellar opens on November 7th 2014 and stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck, David Oyelowo, John Lithgow, Michael Caine, Topher Grace, Ellen Burstyn, oh and now Matt Damon.
