Grimlock Smash! Dinobots confirmed in 'Transformers 4'; Plus New Title Emerges

If one thing can be said about Michael Bay's Transformers series, it's that its severely lacking in Dinobots. The popular Autobots have been rumored for literally every film thus far, and clearly are what fans have been clamoring to see on the silver screen, especially with the visual effects muscle that Bay would put into them. Talk began to swirl that Grimlock, Slag, Swoop, and the other Dinobots would appear in Transformers 4, and it only intensified last week when a story broke that a scene was being shot in Chicago specifically for them. Now uber-producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has spoken to Beijing News and blown the lid off the mystery once and for all. Here's the translated text...

"I can not disclose the specifics, but you can be sure that the joining of the Dinobots will give the audience new excitement. In addition to Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, the appearance of these classic roles changed, today the world's coolest, most exciting cars will appear in the film, including China's vehicles, whether you are a car enthusiast, you will feast your eyes and be shocked by them."

And their inclusion could be more important than just a mere cameo. Yesterday we learned that a number of domain names had been registered as possible titles for the film, but now it's been revealed that Paramount has also registered Age of Extinction. The title obviously could have something to do with the Dinobots, but there is also the suggestion that this film will take the Transformers through different eras. Autobots vs. Deceptions across time and space? I can dig it.

Di Bonaventura goes on to talk about filming in Beijing and Hong Kong, using China-specific vehicles, and whether Bay will blow up any Chinese landmarks.  You can check out the rest of that interview, in rather poor translation unfortunately, here.

Transformers: Age of Extinction (?) opens on June 27th 2014. Grimlock is not a nice dino...
