Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Jonah Hill Plan A 'Sausage Party'

More than two years ago, while 21 Jump Street was still in development, Jonah Hill talked about possibly doing an R-rated animated comedy with his Superbad and This Is the End pals, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.  At the time Hill said it would be 3D and take place in a supermarket, but now we know it will also involve processed meat products and be titled Sausage Party as Sony Pictures has come aboard to make the film a reality.

Written by Rogen, Goldberg, Kyle Hunter, and Ariel Shaffir, with Conrad Vernon (Shrek 2) and Greg Tiernan directing, the film is described as "a raunchy animated movie about one sausage’s quest to discover the truth about his existence. After falling out of a shopping cart, our hero sausage and his new friends embark on a perilous journey through the supermarket to get back to their aisles before the 4th of July sale." Sony's press release makes clear that it's definitely "not for kids", and leaves out any mention of it being in 3D, so perhaps that aspect didn't quite make the cut.

The plan is to have Sausage Party ready for 2015.
