Steve Carell Transforms Into a Killer In Stunning First Trailer for 'Foxcatcher'
Bennett Miller's first two films, Capote and Moneyball, found their way into the Best Picture race quite easily, and also earned Best Actor nods for Philip Seymour Hoffman and Brad Pitt. If the early buzz on Foxcatcher is to be believed, Miller may be going three-for-three. The first trailer for Foxcatcher has been released, and it promises a chilling look at one man's descent into madness.
Based on the true story of paranoid schizophrenic John du Pont (Carell), the story follows his deep passion for Olympic wrestling, building a world-class training facility on his 800-acre property. Mark Ruffalo plays his friend, gold medal-winning wrestler Dave Schultz, with Channing Tatum as his younger brother, Mark. Despite having everything he could ever want, du Pont begins to lose his grip on reality, captured in the trailer's ominous final image. The transformation Carell undergoes is incredible, and the same can be said of Ruffalo, looking as far from Bruce Banner as possible.
Definitely one to keep a close eye on, Foxcatcher opens on December 20th.
