First Trailer for Christopher Nolan's 'Interstellar' Starring Matthew McConaughey and Jessica Chastain
We've always defined ourselves by the ability to overcome the impossible. And we count these moments, these moments when we dared to aim higher, to break barriers, to reach for the stars, to make the unknown known. We count these moments as our proudest achievements. But we lost all that. And perhaps we've just forgotten that we are still pioneers and we've barely begun. And that are greatest accomplishments cannot be behind us, as our destiny lies above us.
Those are the words spoken by Matthew McConaughey in the first teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, a film that the secretive director has been especially tight-lipped about. Even here, there aren't a lot of clues to be drawn, other than the overwhelming sense that Nolan is seeking to honor humanity's pioneering spirit and strive to explore not only this world, but the universe.
While early plot breakdowns suggested the film would follow a team of astronauts on an interstellar voyage through a wormhole, a more recent one expanded on that idea, saying the story would detail "the toll climate change has taken on agriculture, with corn the last crop to be cultivated." A movie about corn doesn't sound all that exciting, and certainly parts of this trailer look like they could have been taken from Promised Land, but it's probably just one aspect of what should be another extremely ambitious effort by Nolan.
Also starring Michael Caine, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Casey Affleck, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow, Wes Bentley, Mackenzie Foy, Topher Grace, David Oyelowo and Matt Damon, Interstellar launches November 7th 2014.
