First Trailer for Michael Bay-Produced Found Footage Thriller 'Welcome to Yesterday'

Sometimes it pays to subscribe to the wit and wisdom of Ashton Kutcher movies, and certainly the kids in the Michael Bay-produced thriller Welcome to Yesterday should have paid more attention to The Butterfly Effect. The film had a ton of mystery surrounding it back when it was titled Almanac, mostly due to fast-rising writers Jason Pagan and Andrew Stark, and Bay's sudden interest in their time travel tale. And now with the release of the very first trailer we get to see what hooked him.

Mostly starring a cast of unknowns, befitting the trim $12M budget, the found footage story centers on a group of friends who discover an old time machine and abuse the heck out of it for personal gain. Win the lottery? Check. Party like Spring Breakers on steroids? Check. Score with the hottest girl in town? You know it. And while it's all fun 'n games, things go south when they learn all the changes they've made in the past have caused ripples through time, altering the future in terrible ways.

Bay and first-time director Dean Israelite are banking on Welcome to Yesterday to be an inexpensive, early season smash when it opens February 28th.
