Call the Divas! WWE Studios Remaking French Wrestling Comedy, 'Queens of the Ring'

No longer just the butt of jokes, WWE Studios is now a major component of Vince McMahon's global entertainment brand. Besides their straight-to-DVD flicks featuring WWE superstars, they've branched out into full-scale national releases and have made headway on the international scene. They recently partnered up with Warner Bros. to produce Les Reines du Ring aka Queens of the Ring, a French-language comedy that included cameos from Mike "The Miz" Mizanin (The Marine 3: Homefront) and ex-WWE diva Eve Torres.  And apparently the film did well enough that it's hitting the squared circle here in America.

WWE Studios has acquired the rights for an American remake of Queens of the Ring, and it sounds like the perfect opportunity to fill the cast with WWE Divas. The film centers on Rose, a mother who attempts to reconnect with her estranged, WWE-loving son by joining an intense training program to become a WWE Diva. She convinces her cashier colleagues to join in her journey to become Queens of the Ring.

The WWE has been looking to introduce more of their female superstars into feature films, recently casting Fandango's breathtaking valet, Summer Rae, in The Marine 4 opposite The Miz.
Jean-Marc Rudnicki directed the original Queens of the Ring, but there is no writer or director attached to the remake yet.
