First Trailer and Poster for David Gordon Green's 'Joe' Starring Nicolas Cage

It may be hard to remember, considering his string of ridiculous throwaway flicks, but Nicolas Cage used to be an actor worthy of praise rather than mockery. Perhaps all he needed was for a director to step up and give him the right material to flex those acting muscles again, because the reviews for David Gordon Green's Joe have been nothing short of extraordinary.

The first trailer and poster have been released for the southern drama, which has Cage as an ex-con trying to stay out of trouble while befriending an abused teen played by Tye Sheridan. Not only does it appear to be Cage's most demanding role in a long time, but it's a continued step in the resurgence of Green as a filmmaker of note.

Joe hits theaters and VOD on April 11th.
