1st Look at Grant Gustin as CW's 'The Flash'

DC Comics is hoping to tighten their hold over the small screen with The Flash, a spinoff of CW's popular series, Arrow. It took a few episodes, but Arrow found its footing towards the end of the first season and has been hitting bullseyes in season two, which is why they're confident enough to branch off in this way. And with production on The Flash pilot beginning next week, the first look at star Grant Gustin in costume has been released, so don't blink or you may miss it.

Designed by Oscar-winner Colleen Atwood, who designed Stephen Amell's Arrow costume. Already it looks far better, and more wind-resistant, than the one worn by John Wesley Shipp in the 1990 series. It's considerably darker than the bright red we're used to in the comics. Shipp will have an unspecified role in this pilot, as well, and if it does well he'll come back in a recurring role. The rest of the cast is filled out by Jesse L. Martin, Michelle Harrison, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, and Tom Cavanaugh.

David Nutter will direct the pilot, with Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Geoff Johnson writing the script.
