One of the few things we know for sure about Jurassic World is that it takes place more than two decades after the first film, so it never really made sense to pack it with familiar characters. While some have hoped for a return by Sam Neill, Laura Dern, or Jeff Goldblum (none are coming back), there is at least one surviving character who is about to experience another dinosaur outbreak.
In an interview with IGN, director Colin Trevorrow revealed that BD Wong, who played Dr. Henry Wu in Jurassic Park, is coming back for the franchise relaunch. Why him and not one of the bigger stars? Put simply, it made sense for the story....

To me that sounds like Wu may have a sinister motive and could be causing some trouble. This also proves there will be more of a connecting thread between the movies than we thought.
Trevorrow also went on to talk about how he plans to differentiate his film from the ones that came before...
Trevorrow: "I’m not on a mission to separate this film from the ones that came before. That will happen naturally – I have different instincts. But, like a lot of people my age, I grew up on Amblin movies. They’re a part of who I am as a filmmaker, and arguably as a person. This film will have a lot of new ideas in it, but I think the spirit will be familiar. It will have an old soul."
Jurassic World opens June 12th 2015 and stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins, Jake Johnson, and Vincent D'Onofrio.
