Mia Wasikowska Battles the Australian Outback in New 'Tracks' Trailer

There hasn't been a ton of buzz surrounding Tracks, the latest film from director John Curran (The Painted Veil), but what there has been is praise for Mia Wasikowska's performance. She plays the real-life Robyn Davidson, who set out on a life-changing trek, along with four camels and her trusty dog, across 2000 miles of the Australian Outback. Why does she decide to do it? Well, as she puts it, "Why not?" Sounds like as good a reason as any.

A new trailer has been released and it suggests a powerful, moving experience with Wasikowska taking on another tough female lead character. She's becoming quite good at that, really. We also get a look at co-star Adam Driver, a rising star in his own right, as the photographer accompanying her on the journey and becomes her lover for a time.

To me this looks like Oscar material, and I wouldn't be surprised if Weintein holds it until later in the year. Tracks is scheduled to hit the UK next month.
