Aaron Paul Struggles to be a Father in Trailer for 'Hellion'
Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul is on the verge of making his mark as a viable big screen star, but efforts like the brainless Need for Speed aren't going to do it. Instead it will likely be his dramatic work that wins audiences over, such as in his previous performance in Smashed, or his Sundance and SXSW festival hit, Hellion. The latter film won raves earlier this year and a big part of it was Paul's performance, and now the first trailer and poster [via ThePlaylist] for it is here.
Paul takes the lead here, again playing an alcoholic so hopefully that's not becoming his "thing", as Hollis, a single father struggling to care for two rebellious boys after his wife's death. As the oldest son Jacob starts to get rowdier, it forces Child Protective Services to remove the younger son Wes to live with his Aunt Pam. Jacob and Hollis must confront their demons and do whatever it takes to get him back. This looks like a moving, soulful piece of work and hopefully it won't get lost in the shuffle this summer.
Written and directed by Kat Candler with Josh Wiggins, Juliette Lewis, and Deke Garner co-starring, Hellion opens on June 13th.
