First Clip from Atom Egoyan's Cannes Entry 'The Captive' Starring Ryan Reynolds

Looking to bounce back from the lukewarm response to Devil's Knot (my thoughts weren't mixed at all), Atom Egoyan is showing up at Cannes with his next film, The Captive, which will be in competition at the festival. Ryan Reynolds, who could use a bit of bouncing back himself, stars as the father to a kidnapped girl, with the film following how it destroys not only his life but of those involved.

This clip takes place immediately before the kidnapping, showing father and daughter happily poking fun at one another while driving through a foreboding snowstorm.  It's hard to escape the Prisoners vibe coming through on this one, and this may be the comeback film Egoyan has been looking for. Mireille Enos, Rosario Dawson, Alexia Fast, Kevin Durand, Scott Speedman, and Bruce Greenwood co-star. Check out the clip below along with some new images and a poster.
