'Hail Caesar' is the Next Film by the Coen Brothers; New Plot Revealed

In the works for nearly ten years, the Coen Brothers are finally about to get rolling on Hail Caesar, a comedy they envisioned as the final leg of their "Numbskull Trilogy" with O'Brother Where Art Thou and Intolerable Cruelty, both starring George Clooney. Late last year they suggested it would be their next film, and now Deadline reports they are ready to roll on it, albeit with a few changes.

Originally the film was to be about a 1920s matinee idol who takes on an Ancient Rome epic with other theater actors. Now it centers on Eddie Mannix, "a fixer in Hollywood circa 1950s who works for the studios to protect the stars of the day." Pretty big switch, and considering the Coens only recently referred to it as "a sandal movie" there's a good chance the Rome aspects will factor in some how. Also sure to be a part of it Clooney, although no deal is in place yet.

No word on when filming will begin but whenever Hail Caesar is finished, look for it to be a pretty big deal.
