Gavin O'Connor Directing Mountain Action Flick 'Massacre In the Himalayas'

After his MMA flick Warrior somehow came and went without anybody noticing despite having Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton in the lead roles, Gavin O'Connor was called upon to save the flailing western, Jane Got a Gun. Now that it's done and due to hit theaters next year, O'Connor is moving on to his next project, a mountain adventure film based on real life event.

Variety reports O'Connor will direct Massacre In the Himalayas, which is based on a Men's Journal article by Freddie Wilkinson. In what sounds like Cliffhanger meets Lone Survivor, the true story surrounds a group of mountain climbers scaling the K2 in Pakistan when they come under attack by terrorists.

It would sound ridiculous if it wasn't true, and how O'Connor approaches the material will be very interesting to see.
