Interview: Director Fred Schepisi Talks 'Words and Pictures' with Clive Owen and Juliette Binoche

Fred Schepisi's nearly four decade-long career has seen him directing a number of memorable and intelligent comedies. He directed Steve Martin in the Cyrano de Bergerac retelling, Roxanne, along with Will Smith's breakout Six Degrees of Separation, and the Tim Robbins/Meg Ryan comedy I.Q. which I still kinda love.

His most recent film, Words and Pictures (in theaters now),  features the charming duo of Clive Owen and Juliette Binoche, and follows the intellectual and romantic battle that ensues between a former poet-turned-English professor and a celebrated painter suffering from crippling rheumatoid arthritis. I had a chance to chat with Schepisi about the film, his thoughts on the power of words vs. pictures, and casting the likes of Owen and Binoche.  You can listen to that interview below, then check out my review of Words and Pictures here.
