Nicholas Stoller and Michael Dowse In the Mix to Direct 'Ant-Man'

There was a clear plan by Marvel to try and replace Edgar Wright on Ant-Man with a comic director of some clout, perhaps to help quiet the fans still upset over the whole debacle. That led to them reaching out to Adam McKay (Anchorman), Rawson Marshall Thurber (We're the Millers), and Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) for the job, with the first two passing and the third eying the Ghostbusters 3 gig. And so now Marvel is digging a little bit deeper and come up with a couple more names that maybe aren't so well known.

Deadline says Michael Dowse (Take Me Home Tonight) and Nicholas Stoller (Neighbors) are "making the rounds" to direct Ant-Man, whatever that means. Clearly Marvel is looking to hire directors with a comedic background, but it's a little surprising that neither has any franchise or action movie experience at all.

So we'll see what happens. Ant-Man is set for release on July 17th 2015 but at this rate who knows if it will be ready.
