*UPDATE: Marvel's press release now says she is indeed Hope Pym, and not Hope van Dyne, which makes me wonder why she was announced on stage as the latter. Oh well! *
Marvel's Comic-Con panel is underway and after a sizzle reel of all the previous films, the floor was taken by Kevin Feige who introduced Ant-Man as the first part of the show. Peyton Reed was brought on to the floor, followed by Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, and then Feige made a couple of confirmations about the rest of the cast.
First up, he confirmed that Corey Stoll will indeed by playing Darren Cross aka Yellowjacket, and will be the movie's villain as previously rumored. When it came time to bring in Evangeline Lily, Feige also confirmed she would play Hope van Dyne, Hank Pym's daughter. So she is NOT Janet van Dyne aka the Wasp as some expected and continue to erroneously repeat. In the comics there is a Hope Pym, Hank and Janet's daughter from an alternate universe. Not sure how she factors into the movies or if she will eventually become Wasp but you can bet fans will expect her to. It's not like Lily wouldn't be a good fit on the Avengers.
Ant-Man opens July 17th 2015.
