Tom Hardy Gets Mad in New 'Mad Max: Fury Road' Images

Thirty years is a long time to wait for anything, but in the world of Hollywood movies it's an eternity. So it's been a little surprising the excitement there seems to be for George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road, and after the intense, action-packed Comic-Con trailer that energy has only been cranked up about a thousand notches.

Warner Bros. is keeping the marketing train rolling with a handful of new images featuring a lean 'n mean Tom Hardy as Mad Max. The film is being billed as a reboot but to my eyes it appears to more of a side story loosely connected to the Mel Gibson movie. Co-starring Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult, the film has Max chased by marauders across the post-apocalyptic desert wasteland in a War Rig. It's basically one long chase sequence, and if audiences love it the sequel is written and ready to go.

Mad Max: Fury Road opens May 15th 2015.
