Want to know what wasn't the most action-packed military film ever? Jarhead. Sam Mendes' war film wasn't about what was going on in the frontlines, it was about the exact opposite and chronicled soldiers with absolutely nothing to do. So while it may seem counter-intuitive to make a sequel to a film that had zilch happen in it, apparently Universal disagreed and now we've got Jarhead 2: Field of Fire.
Judging by the trailer ahead of the Blu-Ray release, Universal just wanted to take advantage of the property because this looks nothing like Jarhead. Starring Cole Hauser, Bookeem Woodbine, Esai Morales, Stephen Lang, and Josh Kelly, the film follows a Navy SEAL unit behind enemy lines and must fight to escort a Taliban enemy out of Afghanistan.
Cheap and unnecessary? That about sums it up. Jarhead 2: Field of Fire hits the Blu-Ray bin on August 19th, and if you watch it let us know how it is.
