Emma Watson and Daniel Bruhl go to 'Colonia'; Terrence Howard Joins 'Man Down'

You hear that a film about Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet is in the works and the natural assumption is that Pablo Larrain is behind it, but that's not the case with the upcoming drama, Colonia. Instead it will be German filmmaker Florian Gallenberger (John Rabe) directing Emma Watson and Daniel Bruhl in the film which is based on the true story of a young couple embroiled in the Chilean military coup of 1973. Bruhl, who worked with Gallenberger on two films prior to this, will play a man abducted by Pinochet's secret police, while Watson is the woman who puts herself in danger to find him. [Deadline]

Terrence Howard is reteaming with Fighting director Dito Montiel for Man Down, which already has Gary Oldman, Shia LaBeouf, and Kate Mara set to star. Penned by Adam Simon, the film centers on "a haunted Afghanistan war veteran who attempts to come to terms with his past while searching for his family in a post-apocalyptic America." Filming begins next month.  [TheWrap]
