Jason Schwartzman is a Total Jerk in Trailer for 'Listen Up Philip'
With the end of the year rapidly approaching, the last few major Sundance films are starting to trickle out into theaters. The latest is Alex Ross Perry's acidic dramedy, Listen Up Philip, which received some of the best reviews of the festival for both director and star Jason Schwartzman. Much like the recent Park City favorite, Frank, the film explores the occasionally twisted, selfish nature of the creatively gifted. Schwartzman plays a successful, arrogant jerk of an author who is dealing with the promotion of his second novel, a crumbling relationship with his photographer girlfriend (Elisabeth Moss), and the presence of his mentor (Jonathan Pryce) who isn't all he's cracked up to be.
Perry seems to be going for a Woody Allen vibe here, and Schwartzman is usually at his best in just this kind of role. Listen Up Philip opens on October 17th.
